Patient Reported Outcomes (PRO)

Outcomes research seeks to follow and measure the progress of patients, then link these results to specific conditions and treatments. Ultimately, the goal is that conclusions gained through this research will result in evidence-based improvements to patient care and outcomes.

Surgical Outcomes System

At BRIO, outcomes research is managed and evaluated through the Surgical Outcomes System (SOS). This platform allows researchers the ability to analyze outcomes of patients treated at TSAOG Orthopaedics and benchmark across a global database maintained by SOS. Information collected is specifically designed to measure the impact an injury or musculoskeletal problem has on a patient. This data helps researchers compare the effectiveness of treatments, the impact of treatments on the outcomes of patients, and the cost-effectiveness of the treatments received.

Available outcomes scores include:

  • The American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Shoulder Score (ASES)
  • Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS)
  • Hip disability and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (HOOS)
  • Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS)
  • Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand Score (DASH-Quick)
